*** This position requires a 12-hour shifts following a 4-on / 4-off shift pattern (which includes night and day rotations) ***

Eligible applicants MUST live locally or be able to travel to and from Squamish in support of this schedule. No travel or accommodations will be provided.

What are the responsibilities?

  • Monitor and operate plant equipment from the control room DCS.
  • Provide direction to field operators based on feedback from instruments installed on process units.
  • Adjust process parameters to achieve targeted results outlined in test plans and to optimize process units.
  • Execute initial data analysis and troubleshooting of plant equipment.
  • Complete effective shift handover to oncoming operators and communicate effectively between teams.
  • Provide input for completing daily reports.
  • Perform daily tasks to gather data in support of technology development
  • Conduct plant test campaigns, operate plant equipment, and track plant activities in support of process development and future plant design
  • Identify, report and resolve unsafe conditions, processes or actions within the workplace
  • Be familiar with the Emergency Response Plan (ERP) and associated responsibilities within the plan
  • Ensure that periodic safety inspections, daily rounds and other safety related requirements are completed in a timely fashion
  • Operate plant equipment and control panels as required
  • Complete and authorize daily work permits as required
  • Monitor parameters using HMI and routine plant walk throughs
  • Monitor, adjust, and complete modifications on equipment
  • Execute, assess and sign-off on proper LOTO procedures
  • Request, coordinate and support maintenance requirements with the Maintenance Team
  • Perform lab sampling and analysis to monitor and control plant performance
  • Adjust process parameters to achieve targeted results outlined in test plans
  • Troubleshooting analysis of plant equipment

What are the requirements?

  • Minimum of 5 years’ of panel operations experience in pulp and paper, water treatment, oil and gas or similar industrial environment.
  • Eligible candidates may come from power engineering, chemical technology, or engineering technologist backgrounds – may consider others, but these individuals should possess the right technical knowledge to fulfill job requirements safely and drive continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work 12 hours shifts, both days and nights
  • Ability to travel to and from Squamish for work if not living locally, flights will not be provided
  • Must be personable, professional, and able to work effectively in collaboration with maintenance, engineering, and operations
