The Lead Electrical Engineer will be responsible for:
- Provide electrical leadership for small to medium-sized projects in industrial sectors like Pulp & Paper, Wastewater Treatment, and Power Generation.
- Act as the primary electrical contact for clients.
- Participate in engineering review meetings with the project team and separate meetings with clients.
- Oversee electrical engineering tasks and provide guidance to junior and intermediate engineers.
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge in electrical design, including single-line diagrams, grounding plans, MCC layouts, cable schedules, control panel layouts, and motor schematics.
- Determine feeder cable sizing and motor protection requirements.
- Prepare electrical equipment specifications and analyze supplier quotations.
- Review and comment on drawings from equipment vendors.
- Establish and approve project-specific electrical installation standards.
- Stamp and approve electrical drawings.
- Conduct electrical calculations and understand Electrical Power Studies.
- Develop layout drawings for electrical rooms, transformer rooms, and outdoor substations.
The required qualifications for the Lead Electrical Engineer are:
- 15+ years of professional experience in electrical engineering within a Consulting Engineering firm, specializing in industrial plant design.
- Extensive experience in detailed electrical engineering and design for industrial sectors like Pulp & Paper, Wastewater Treatment, Power Generation, etc.
- Proficient in conceptualizing and executing detailed designs of electrical power and control systems across various voltage levels.
- Member in good standing with the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
- Thorough understanding and working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Familiarity with electrical heat tracing, cable tray design, and lighting systems would be advantageous.
- Experience in onsite supervision of electrical installations would be beneficial.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools and a basic understanding of AUTOCAD 2D modeling would be advantageous.
- Willingness to travel to client sites for information gathering and participation in design review meetings.
