We are looking to hire a Mechanical Engineer with Maintenance knowledge for our location in Langley (Pulp Plant).

In this role, you will control process parameters and changes, develop and refine processes, maintain product quality, provide production support, manage capital projects, and drive continuous improvement.

You will be reporting to the Plant Engineer. This full-time position offers a chance to work with a dynamic team and gain exposure to all aspects of manufacturing.

You role as a Mechanical Engineer:

• Experience in establishing and maintaining process control systems.

• Proficiency in monitoring and adjusting process parameters to ensure optimal performance.

• Knowledge of process auditing and compliance with recipe requirements for furnish and chemicals.

• Proven track record in initiating and coordinating the development of new chemicals, processes, methods, or procedures.

• Experience managing process improvement projects and leading new product trials.

• Ability to maintain and monitor chemical inventories and usage.

• Expertise in developing and maintaining procedures to ensure product quality control.

• Experience in defining, communicating, and applying quality standards and testing procedures.

• Handling customer complaints and implementing corrective actions to address quality issues.

• Focus on quality assurance and glass prevention strategies.

• Experience providing technical support and troubleshooting for production processes

• Knowledge of Continuous Productivity Improvement (CPI) techniques.

• Proficiency in training and mentoring operations personnel to enhance performance.

• Experience overseeing capital projects from initiation to completion.

• Ability to assist with developing and managing projects under other managerial resources.

• Strong project management skills, including planning, execution, and monitoring.

• Experience in identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities.

• Proficiency in coordinating and evaluating CI projects with a focus on financial cost justifications.

• Certification or experience as a CI consultant, such as a Champion or Green Belt would be an asset.

• Proficiency in organizing components and equipment modifications, including troubleshooting and repairs.

• Strong organizational skills to establish and maintain store items and equipment.

• Proven experience in mentoring and developing managers, supervisors, and technical personnel.

• Strong leadership skills to guide teams towards achieving process and quality goals.

• Ability to foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

• Knowledge of industry regulations and standards related to pulp and paper manufacturing.

• Experience ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and quality regulations.

• Ability to implement and monitor compliance programs within the production process.

• Strong analytical skills to identify process inefficiencies and implement effective solutions.

• Experience in data analysis and process optimization techniques.

• Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues within the production environment.

Qualifications as a Molded Fiber Engineer/Specialist:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or a related field.

• 5 years of molded fiber engineering experience is a huge asset.

• Experience in the pulp and paper industry is required.

• Strong knowledge of process control, quality management, and production support.

• Maintenance experience is required; having a strong understanding of how machinery works.

• Proven experience in project management and continuous improvement.

• Excellent mentoring and leadership skills.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Some overtime is required when responsibilities warrant it

• Must be available during off hours for consulting and intervening during emergencies

• Ability to pass background check
