Field Technician- Lead Hand & Helper Permanent Opportunity!

Location: Mississauga

Are you prepared to assume a leadership role or support our Technicians in delivering outstanding service to our commercial and industrial customers? We are looking for a Lead Hand Service Technician and Assisting Technician to join our team in the Toronto Area. In this crucial position, you will be the main point of assistance for our commercial and industrial customers, overseeing service and installation activities for various commercial doors , door opening system, and dock leveling systems.

Responsibilities for the Lead Hand

  • Service and install various products, including sectional doors, rolling doors, drop testing fire doors, vehicle restraints, impact doors, and loading dock equipment.
  • Repair and troubleshoot defective equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Maintain proper truck stock, inventory, and company vehicle.
  • Accurately track time, detailing job numbers, travel time, labeling equipment, and completing job assignments in a timely manner.
  • Interact with customers, end-users, and general contractors courteously and professionally.
  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address diverse door and site requirements.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance to prolong equipment lifespan.
  • Respond to work order requests promptly to meet customer needs.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Promote the company’s operational visions, values, and goals.
  • Participate in training and team activities to support ongoing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager or his/her designate.
  • Flexibility with working hours and occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications:

  • Strong working knowledge of overhead doors, with the ability to analyze, diagnose problems, and possess mechanical knowledge for necessary repairs.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in overhead door and loading dock operations.
  • Welding and/or electrical experience is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; company vehicle provided.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to handle a physical workload and proficient with power tools.
  • Independent work capability and service-oriented mindset.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable working at heights and adaptable to a changing work environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a neat, clean appearance.
  • High school diploma or equivalent and must pass a background check.
  • Basic math skills and adherence to safety standards.
