Position: QA Specialist

Job Overview:

This position is responsible for the implementation and management of the incoming inspection program as it relates to purchased items, in accordance with the quality management system. The role involves working directly with suppliers and the purchasing team to resolve quality issues, managing supplier corrective action requests, and supporting manufacturing investigations for component failures. Additionally, the position requires producing monthly supplier performance reports and collaborating with Program Managers and Planning to assess the impact of supplier non-conformances. You will also work with senior management to define supplier approval methods, audit frequency, and surveillance requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

– Identify and establish inspection criteria for purchased items.

– Evaluate, approve, and audit suppliers to ensure compliance.

– Maintain and update the approved supplier directory and supplier quality requirements manual.

– Monitor and report on supplier quality performance on a monthly basis.

– Review and approve purchase orders and part history records.

– Assist or lead investigations into product returns and in-house failures, utilizing methods such as 8D and engineering investigations, and support the production of related reports.

– Handle non-conformance dispositions and participate in Material Review Board (MRB) decisions.

– Lead customer corrective action boards to resolve issues.

– Coordinate First Article Inspections (FAIs) for new or revised products.

– Provide input on supplier concessions and assist with their evaluation and disposition.

– Ensure product acceptance and release according to customer and regulatory requirements.

– Participate in production readiness review meetings to ensure supplier quality readiness.

– Create, review, and update internal quality procedures and work instructions as needed.

– Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

– Degree or Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.

– Minimum of 3 years’ experience in quality management systems, preferably within AS9100 environments.

– Certified Quality Auditor.

– Familiarity with regulatory requirements, preferably in aviation (e.g., Canadian Aviation Regulations), is an asset.

– Experience in electronics manufacturing/assembly environments, preferably IPC-A-610 Class 3.

– Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email).

– Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong verbal and written communication abilities.

– Ability to manage conflicting priorities effectively with minimal supervision.
