  • Knowledge of WHMIS
  • Experience handling hazardous chemicals
In addition, a qualified person must be able to pass an eye exam we administer to assess their abilities to detect different colours. A BFOR for the position.

Shift Afternoons Monday – Friday 3:30pm-11:45pm

POSITION SUMMARY
Working under the supervision of Quality Assurance Work Team Leader, in the Quality Assurance Department, the Stain Mixer is responsible for preparing wood stain mixtures, ensuring consistent color and quality, and maintaining a clean work environment, within a wood finishing manufacturing setting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Prepare wood stains, sealers and topcoats from formulae books
• Maintain viscosity logbook
• Place orders with suppliers for chemical and other materials to support Finishing lines
• Maintain FICO system for all Stains & Finishing material
• Collect pigments and other chemical materials for analysis
• Waste Management knowledge (Solid and Liquid waste)
• Ensure all safety guidelines related to handling chemicals are followed
• Follow MillerKnoll disposal procedures for proper disposal of items
• Follow shop floor controls
• Perform required quality inspections and report non-conform parts immediately
• Ensure all production, safety and quality related issues are communicated to the Facilitator or Work Team Leader
• Follow all MillerKnoll safety policies and protocols
• Maintain a clean, safe, working environment according to 5s principles and department safety guidelines
• Maintain and follow the ISO standard operating procedures
• Participate in and contribute to the continuous improvement process
*Additional responsibilities as requested by Management to achieve business objectives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience
• Secondary School Diploma or equivalent required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Previous experience in production lab environment an asset.
• Knowledge of WHMIS.
• Handling of Dangerous Chemicals- TDG training.
• Customer service orientation.
• Proven knowledge of industrial finishing equipment, including the setup, operation and maintenance of tools
• Knowledge of safe use and storage of potentially hazardous materials
• Knowledge of veneer substrates
• Must be proficient in English (both written and verbal)
• Ability to use precision measuring tools including tape measure
• Ability to consistently demonstrate a high attention to detail
• Computer proficiency with the ability to manipulate and save files
• Ability to manipulate mathematical data using addition, multiplication and subtraction
