Job Title: Quality Assurance Supervisor

Location: W Dickens Ave, Chicago

Shift: Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, required to work on weekends occasionally

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Quality Assurance Supervisor to join our client’s team in Chicago. In this role, you will ensure consistent quality in production and maintain plant sanitation by developing and enforcing high-standard manufacturing practices. Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) are consistent with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as the HACCP leader, ensuring the program and prerequisite programs are up-to-date and fully implemented in production.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the plant QA team, focusing on training, coaching, and developing QA technicians. Responsibilities include identifying training needs, facilitating personal growth, setting performance goals, managing absenteeism, and assisting in disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Lead and assist during audits as assigned by the QA Manager.
  • Maintain records of finished product specifications, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs), and QA forms.
  • Develop training materials and provide routine employee training on quality, regulatory, and food safety principles to ensure 100% compliance.
  • Address plant issues, resolve problems, and implement corrective actions and preventive measures in response to customer/supplier complaints.
  • Work with Plant Operations to implement quality enhancement processes and procedures to achieve process improvements and cost savings.
  • Maintain programs related to Recall/Mock Recall, Traceability, FIFO, Continuous Improvement, Sanitation, Pest Control, and Food Security.
  • Support third-party audits (GMP, Costco), customer audits, and internal audits.
  • Manage a direct report team of 2 QA Technicians, including their development and performance assessments.
  • Oversee facility sanitation through monitoring environmental swabbing and collaborating with the Sanitation team on any identified cleaning issues.
  • Review internal/external testing results for raw materials and finished products.

Qualifications:

  • A college diploma in Food Science or a related field.
  • Preferred: 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance, with demonstrated people management skills and internal auditing experience.
  • Required: GFSI experience (SQF certification is an asset) and PCQI certification.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
  • Previous leadership experience, preferably in a food processing facility.
  • Highly disciplined, motivated, and accountable for all Quality Assurance matters.
  • Strong proficiency in systems, including MS Office.
