Position Summary:
As a Mechanical Inspector, you’ll play a key role in ensuring quality across all levels of manufacturing. You’ll inspect machined and fabricated parts, weldments, electro-mechanical and hydraulic assemblies, and ensure all components meet the company’s Quality Management System and customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect machines, welded, and assembled mechanical components to ensure compliance with engineering drawings and customer requirements.
- Use metrology instruments, CMM equipment, and geometric dimensioning tools to verify precision measurements.
- Review and interpret complex drawings, process plans, and schematics.
- Interface with in-house DND QAR for interim/final inspections.
- Follow all Health & Safety procedures; report and participate in investigations of any incidents or accidents.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections and work within Quality Management Systems (QMS).
Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of metrology tools and measurement methods.
- CMM experience (Coordinate Measuring Machine) is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with CSA W59, ABS, Lloyd’s Rules, and DNV Rules for shipbuilding is an asset.
- Liquid Penetrant Testing (LPT) or other NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) experience is a plus.
- Sound understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Skilled in blueprint reading and advanced mathematical calculations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience with ERP systems (such as Oracle) and quality management platforms like TIPQA is an asset.
- Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Background check and 5-year verifiable Canadian work history required.
Education Requirements:
- Completion of a post-secondary program in Quality Control/Assurance or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
- A degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering is an asset.
