Your tasks as the General Manual Machinist and Polisher

Machining Operations: Set up and operate various machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses to machine parts according to specifications.

Polishing and Finishing: Perform polishing and finishing operations to remove imperfections, burrs, or rough edges and achieve the desired surface finish using hand tools, abrasives, or polishing machines.

Blueprint and Drawing Interpretation: Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD files to understand part dimensions, tolerances, and finish requirements.

Quality Assurance: Inspect machined and polished parts using precision measuring instruments like micrometers, calipers, and gauges to ensure they meet specified requirements.

Tool and Equipment Maintenance: Select, maintain, and care for polishing tools, cutting tools, and fixtures. Conduct routine maintenance on machines and polishing equipment to ensure optimal performance.

Process Optimization: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance machining and polishing efficiency and quality.

Material Handling: Safely handle materials, load and unload workpieces, and maintain proper inventory of materials and consumables needed for machining and polishing tasks.

Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), proper handling of hazardous materials, and adherence to lockout/tagout procedures.

The required qualifications of the General Manual Machinist and Polisher

·High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or an apprenticeship in machining and polishing is preferred.

Minimum of 3- 5 years of experience as a machinist, with additional experience in polishing or finishing metal parts.

Proficiency in operating various machine tools and polishing equipment.

Strong understanding of machining processes, finishing techniques, and materials.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD files.

Experience with precision measuring instruments and quality control procedures.

Attention to detail and a high level of manual dexterity.

Basic computer skills, including familiarity with CNC machine controls.

Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
