We are seeking an Environmental Permitting Manager to join the Vancouver team.

Role description:

This key role will support major infrastructure and industrial projects by ensuring all necessary environmental permits and assessments are obtained efficiently and effectively. The successful candidate will manage a multidisciplinary team and collaborate with various stakeholders to navigate complex regulatory landscapes.

As an Environmental Permitting Manager, your role accountabilities will include:

  • The preparation and submission of environmental and regulatory plans, and environmental permit applications from federal and provincial agencies.
  • Impact Assessments and assisting private and government clients in obtaining Environmental Assessment Certificates
  • Compliance with environmental assessment (EAC) and permit conditions through effective tracking, reporting, and sign-off processes
  • Overseeing permitting work that involves multiple disciplines including freshwater and marine aquatic habitats, bird, mammals and other wildlife habitats, air quality, noise, vibration, and archaeology.
  • Implementing marine and freshwater aquatic baseline and monitoring programs to support permit applications and verify compliance requirements.
  • Fish habitat restoration, enhancement, and creation plans, designs, and reports, including offsetting plans.
  • Fisheries research, fish habitat restoration, and offsetting programs planning and implementation.
  • Implement heritage requirements related to construction projects with archaeologists.
  • Strategic regulatory and environmental advice to clients related to project design, impact mitigation, and obtaining environmental approvals.
  • Good working relationships with EAO, DFO, FLNRO, other government agencies, Indigenous nations, and stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • The successful candidate will have a proven track record in environmental permitting processes within British Columbia.
  • Have proven experience in interpreting and implementing provincial and federal environmental regulatory requirements.

Other requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biology, environmental science, or environmental resource management.
  • Professional designation or Qualified Professional status
  • 12 to 15 years of experience, primarily in British Columbia, with major infrastructure and industrial projects
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects are considered essential for this role.
  • A proven track record of managing clients, contractors, and regulators as it related to permitting is needed, with strong familiarity of EAO, DFO, FLNRO, and other provincial agencies.
