We are currently seeking Design Engineers to join the Civil Engineering team and work out of the Burlington, Kitchener or London offices.
RESPONSIBILITY
-
- Complete design calculations based on engineering principles for various municipal development projects, meeting applicable regulatory codes and standards;
- Create plan and profile designs of municipal infrastructure, specifically municipal roadways;
- Design of municipal corridors, watermains, center line alignments and functional roadways;
- Hydraulic modeling of water courses (creeks/rivers) and infrastructure flood plain mapping;
- Develop watermain, sanitary, and storm sewer alignments;
- Sizing of sanitary and storm water management facilities, SWM design and Water balance impact assessments;
- Liaise with municipal staff, contractors, and the public and equipment suppliers;
- Preparation of technical design reports and memos;
- Attend and participate in project team meetings and coordinate with team members to ensure efficient and timely delivery of project deliverables;
- Other related duties, as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS

- Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent;
- Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng.);
- Minimum of 5 years of related work experience, specifically with Municipal development projects;
- Strong working knowledge of applicable software including HEC-2/HEC-RAS, GAWSER, MIDUSS, OTTHYMO, XPSSWMM, and MS Office Suite is required;
- Strong knowledge of underground servicing, municipal road design and water resources principles;
- Experience with preliminary and final design of roads, bridges and municipal Facilities;
- Experience developing servicing, grading and drainage designs;
- Solid understanding of engineering principles and design standards, as well as the reciprocal effects of the work upon other fields;
- Strong technical report writing, written and verbal communication skills;
- Excellent time management and organizational skills;
- Strong problem solving skills accompanied by attention to detail;
- Experience with agency approvals and permitting;
- Experience with using Civil 3D and AutoCAD as a design tool; and
- Application of trenchless technologies.
