We are seeking an experienced and motivated Afternoon Operations Supervisor to lead distribution operations within a fast-paced warehouse environment. This role is responsible for overseeing shift activities, ensuring production goals are achieved within budget, and maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and customer service.
The ideal candidate is a strong leader with proven experience in distribution operations, performance management, and team development.
6-9 month role with strong potential to transition into full time position. Providing 1–2 weeks of training on days (6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.) before moving the successful candidate to the afternoon shift schedule.
Schedule: Afternoon Operations Supervisor
Monday – 13:00pm to 23:00pm; Tuesday to Friday – 14:30pm to 23:00pm + OT/Weekends when needed. When OT is needed, the whole team typically stays until 1:00am.
Salary: $33 per hourly, plus 4% vacation pay, paid weekly
Locations: Rocky View County (no transit accessible)
Main tasks of the Afternoon Operations Supervisor: Afternoon Operations Supervisor
- Schedule labor requirements for each shift to ensure production targets are met within budgeted cost structures
- Conduct shift briefings to communicate key operational updates and expectations
- Assign tasks to operators and warehouse staff; monitor progress and ensure timely completion
- Sequence order picking based on shipment priorities and customer needs to reduce driver wait times, rush loads, and late deliveries
- Ensure proper picking and packing procedures are followed and that all production meets or exceeds client quality standards
- Track, analyze, and report daily and weekly departmental performance using KPIs and operational metrics
- Approve daily labor hours in accordance with company policies, ensuring accurate payroll processing and cost allocation
- Provide regular coaching and feedback; conduct performance appraisals and manage disciplinary matters appropriately
- Maintain strong customer relationships and communicate service requirements effectively.
- Ensure a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Fulfill supervisory responsibilities under Occupational Health & Safety legislation, including safety, violence, and harassment policies
- Monitor and drive improvements in operational efficiency, quality, and safety performance indicators
- All other related tasks
Requirements for the Afternoon Operations Supervisor position: Afternoon Operations Supervisor
- College Diploma in Business Management with a focus in Logistics Management, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years of distribution experience (3PL experience considered an asset)
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience, preferably in a 3PL operations environment
- Knowledge of the RP/Blue Yonder and/or the Vo-Collect system for picking is considered an asset.
- Strong computer literacy, including MS Office applications
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
- Demonstrated reliability with exemplary attendance and punctuality
- MHE Equipment: Double End rider (see pic below), Reach Truck, Dock stocker
