We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical & Controls Engineer to join a dynamic EPC firm based in Calgary, Alberta. This firm provides multi-disciplinary engineering solutions across industries such as oil & gas, petrochemical, refining, and manufacturing. With a strong focus on innovation, quality, and efficiency, the team works on projects of varying complexity and scale, ensuring successful project execution with cost-effective solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor electrical design teams on industrial projects while coordinating across engineering disciplines.
- Perform conceptual, FEED, and detailed electrical design; review and approve electrical design documents, drawings, and calculations.
- Specify, procure, and review vendor drawings for electrical equipment; support designers with control systems, PLC/DCS panel design, and instrumentation wiring.
- Conduct electrical area classification and power system studies using ETAP/SKM; ensure compliance with CEC/NEC, NFPA, API, IEEE, and client standards.
- Assist with TIC cost estimates for electrical and control systems; produce technical reports with strong writing skills.
- Manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Power) or related field with P.Eng. designation in Alberta (US PE is an asset).
- 10-15+ years of electrical engineering design experience in industrial sectors, including 5+ years as a Project Electrical Lead Engineer.
- Expertise in electrical engineering codes (CEC/NEC), standards, best practices, and leading multi-discipline engineering or EPC projects.
- Familiarity with electrical area classification studies and power system studies.
- Strong leadership, project coordination, and mentoring skills for junior engineers.
- Ability to travel within Canada and the U.S. (up to 10%) with excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Work Environment
- Calgary-based office with a hybrid work model (office + remote work flexibility).
