Refrigeration Mechanic 4th Class
Role Summary:
Reporting to the Chief Engineer – Maintenance, this individual will perform regular inspections and repair / replace and maintain work when necessary to prevent breakdowns and major overhauls on mechanical plant equipment on shift.

Hourly Rate: starting at $41.00
Shifts Available: Rotating Shifts and Weeks
2/2/3 schedule with rotating days and nights at 12 hours a day (one week would be 48 hours and the next week would be 36 hours)

Burlington Facility – Pork Processing Plant
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensures compliance with TSSA regulations.
- Performs routine equipment maintenance, clean/lubricate boilers, refrigeration, HVAC, fuel, water treatment, compressed air systems, auxiliaries and distribution systems, housekeeping throughout plant.
- Installs mechanical systems throughout the plant and assists Industrial Mechanic Millwrights.
- Checks and Adjusts (calibrates) heating/cooling systems, brine chiller, humidification, air handling equipment, Kemco hot water system, repair high pressure hoses and pumps, scald and de-hair tanks systems after installation and makes necessary changes, adjustments and modifications to obtain desired results
- Maintains repairs, troubleshoots electrical problem, routine preventive maintenance, install and repair water/drainage piping, compressed air piping repairs, ammonia piping system repairs.
- Must be proficient at checking and inspecting all aspects of a refrigeration system including equipment, detectors and delivery systems
- Must be proficient at welding
- Checks and tests for leaks, sets and adjusts controls and regulators and checks operating adjustments as required.
- Checks and replaces mechanical components and controls.
- Monitor and records flow rates, pressures and temperatures within specific cold chain parameters.
- Capable of rebuilding pumps and compressors
- Ensure proper use and storage of approved chemicals.
- Follows GMP rules and GMP for Maintenance rules while performing repairs and PM tasks
- Ensures temporary repairs are done in a manner that does not create potential food safety hazards
- Informs Sanitation or Production when repairs are completed so that proper sanitation of surfaces can be completed.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Valid 4TH Class Operating Engineer / Refrigeration B Operator or Class A Operator
- Valid Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic license (313A)
- Must have 6,000 hours
- Must be proficient in use of all mechanical hand tools and power tools
- Must be able to read and understand blueprints
- Must have computer skills for entering inventory records, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
