R&D Food Product Developer – Food Manufacturing (Bakery and Desert Focus) | MILTON | 80-90K

Qualifications & Experience
  • 4–10 years of Product Development / R&D experience in food manufacturing IS A MUST
  • Strong experience in CPG or food production environments
  • Bakery or baked goods experience preferred (pastry, batters, fillings, etc.)
  • Open to candidates with savory product experience with transferable skills to bakery
  • Proven experience with plant trials and product scale-up is required
  • Post-secondary education in Food Science, Culinary, or related field (international credentials accepted)
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and reformulate baked and frozen food products for retail and foodservice
  • Create and maintain formulations, specifications, SOPs, and product documentation
  • Prepare product costing, nutrition facts, and ingredient declarations
  • Lead and execute plant trials independently, ensuring successful scale-up to production
  • Conduct lab/kitchen testing and troubleshoot formulation and processing issues
  • Source and evaluate ingredients, packaging, and processing methods
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, regulatory, and certification requirements
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, FSQA, Purchasing, Sales, and Marketing
  • Monitor consumer trends and innovation opportunities to support product strategy

Working Environment
  • Fully on-site role in Milton, ON
  • Mix of office work, R&D lab/kitchen, and production floor exposure
  • Standard hours: Monday–Friday
  • Flexibility required for plant trials (early starts or extended hours, with time adjusted accordingly)
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: 80,000 – $90,000 (flexible for strong candidates)
  • No bonus structure
