The Project
Court Technology Services (CTS), within the Alberta Courts, is leading multiple technology initiatives to modernize and improve service delivery across the province. A key focus is the Point-of-Sale (POS) modernization project, which will replace a legacy system that no longer meets evolving service expectations, security requirements, or operational efficiency needs.
This transformation will impact 80+ court locations across Alberta, supporting financial transactions, fee collections, ticket and fine payments, and reconciliation functions. The project is critical to ensuring secure, efficient, and transparent financial operations within the justice system, and is part of the broader Justice Digital modernization initiative.

The Role
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead planning, coordination, and delivery for CTS projects, with primary allocation to the POS modernization initiative. The Project Manager will work closely with Court Administration, Finance, IT Services, Procurement, and executive stakeholders to design and execute strategies, manage risks, and ensure high-quality outcomes.

  • Facilitate workshops, focus groups, and steering committees; prepare and present project updates to executives and staff.
  • Develop project plans, schedules, budgets, risk registers, and performance measures.
  • Manage stakeholder engagement, change management plans, and communication strategies.
  • Oversee scope, timelines, and deliverables; track progress and resolve issues proactively.
  • Ensure compliance with GoA security, PCI-DSS standards, and Canadian data residency requirements.
  • Support solution design and integration with Justice Online Information Network (JOIN) and related systems.
  • Provide leadership to cross-functional teams, ensuring timely delivery of tasks and outcomes.
  • Document and report on project status, approvals, financials, and risks.
  • Support broader CTS initiatives (Justice Digital transformation, IT delivery restructuring, and infrastructure modernization).
What you bring
  • Proven experience managing large-scale IT and business transformation projects.
  • Strong background in project governance, risk/issue management, and change management.
  • Experience engaging diverse stakeholder groups (executives, finance, IT, procurement, court administration).
  • Excellent facilitation, documentation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams and manage scope/timelines.
  • Familiarity with government/public sector projects is an asset.
  • Knowledge of financial/payment systems, POS solutions, and integration projects preferred.
  • Work authorization in Canada and ability to attend regular onsite meetings in Edmonton.
Security & Compliance
  • Criminal Record Check required before start.
  • Enhanced Security Clearance required (coordinated by the Province).
