Project Manager

Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia

Position Overview
The Project Manager is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects from pre-construction through completion. This role ensures projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with client expectations and company standards.
The Project Manager works closely with superintendents, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to manage project performance while maintaining strong relationships with all stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
  • Lead all phases of construction projects including planning, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and execution.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met.
  • Coordinate with site superintendents to ensure smooth project delivery.
Financial Management
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, cost forecasts, and financial reporting.
  • Track project costs and identify potential risks or variances.
  • Review and approve subcontractor invoices and change orders.
Contract & Stakeholder Management
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, negotiation, and contract administration.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure project deliverables align with contractual obligations.
Risk & Compliance
  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor quality control and ensure construction meets design specifications.
Team Leadership
  • Provide leadership and direction to project teams including project coordinators, engineers, and field staff.
  • Facilitate regular project meetings and communicate updates to stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5–10+ years of experience managing commercial or industrial construction projects.
  • Experience with large-scale projects such as commercial buildings, institutional developments, or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, scheduling, and cost management.
  • Proficiency with project management tools such as Procore, Primavera P6, or Microsoft Project.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience working with a large general contractor.
  • Knowledge of Canadian construction regulations and safety standards.
  • Experience managing projects valued at $20M+.
