About the Opportunity
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Payroll Specialist to join our team on a contract basis, with the potential to transition into a permanent role. This position is ideal for a payroll professional who thrives in an independent environment and is motivated to take ownership of payroll operations while driving process improvements.
You will play a critical role in managing end-to-end payroll functions and supporting the implementation of a new payroll system.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle payroll processing for all employees across Canada
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial payroll legislation
- Administer payroll functions including wage garnishments, deductions, and remittances
- Act as the primary point of contact for all payroll-related matters
- Lead and support the implementation of a new payroll system, including testing and validation of system functionality
- Review current payroll processes and recommend improvements
- Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure data integrity
- Partner with internal stakeholders to resolve payroll inquiries and issues
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and operational efficiency
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a payroll-focused role
- Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and compliance requirements
- Experience managing full-cycle payroll independently
- Experience with payroll system implementations or upgrades is considered an asset
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across teams
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
