Payroll Specialist (3-Month Contract) – Remote
Fuze HR is currently seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist / Payroll SME for a 3-month contract with one of our global, industry-leading clients in the consumer goods sector. This role supports a leave of absence and requires an expert who can confidently manage complex Canadian payroll tasks with minimal ramp-up.
This is a 100% remote opportunity supporting a national workforce.
About the Opportunity
You will be joining a high-performing team responsible for delivering accurate, timely payroll for employees across multiple provinces. Reporting to the Manager of Talent Operations & Programs, you’ll support critical payroll cycles, year-end processing, and Dayforce administration during a peak period.
The ideal candidate is proactive, analytical, and deeply experienced in Canadian payroll operations—especially within Ceridian Dayforce.

Salary Range: $28.00–$42.00/hour, based on experience + Completion Bonus
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Administration
-
Manage full-cycle biweekly payroll for 500+ Canadian employees (hourly and salaried) across multiple provinces

Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries

Ensure strict compliance with federal, provincial, and local payroll regulations

Prepare payroll reports and conduct variance analyses for management

Maintain accurate payroll documentation and audit trails

Audit bonuses/commissions and upload validated data into the payroll system

Provide detailed support for internal audits and compliance reviews
Year-End & EOY Support

Lead Ceridian Dayforce year-end activities, including:

T4 preparation and submission

Tax reconciliations

ROE filings
-

Ensure all deadlines and statutory requirements are met
Time & Attendance / HRIS

Develop and audit reports to validate data accuracy

Ensure timesheets are accurately completed and approved prior to payroll

Assist with system upgrades, testing, and payroll-related implementation projects
What We’re Looking For

5+ years of multi-province, high-volume Canadian payroll experience

Expert proficiency in Ceridian Dayforce (required)

Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, taxation, and compliance

Advanced Excel capabilities (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas)

Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills

Strong communication and problem-solving abilities

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Education & Certifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred

Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) considered an asset
