Position: Junior Woodworker
Location: North York, ON
About the Role
We’re looking for a detail-oriented Junior Woodworker to join a growing production team. In this hands-on role, you’ll work with a variety of tools and materials to craft quality wood components and finished products. You’ll collaborate closely with team leads and follow detailed work instructions to ensure every piece meets our high standards of craftsmanship and safety.
What You’ll Do
  • Interpret drawings and work orders to produce parts and assemblies according to specifications
  • Identify and repair minor surface imperfections using appropriate woodworking tools (routers, planers, sanders, etc.)
  • Report and document any materials or products that don’t meet quality standards
  • Safely and effectively operate hand tools and precision measuring instruments (tape measures, calipers, etc.)
  • Maintain accurate production and inspection records as per operating procedures
  • Track and report inventory levels for consumables and materials
  • Perform routine quality checks and report any non-conforming materials immediately
  • Communicate production challenges to team leads or facilitators as they arise
  • Follow all shop floor, safety, and housekeeping procedures in line with 5S principles
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to team success
What You Bring
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 1 year of hands-on experience in woodworking or carpentry
  • Skilled in the use of woodworking tools and equipment (saws, routers, chisels, planers, etc.)
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Excellent attention to detail and a focus on quality workmanship
  • Comfortable using basic computer programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Willingness to cross-train and work in multiple areas as production needs change
  • Solid math and measurement skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication)
  • Familiarity with Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) considered an asset
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 3 hours at a time)
  • Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs as needed
  • Manual dexterity and steady hand-eye coordination
  • Must be able to work safely with required PPE in a busy production environment
  • Tolerance for typical woodworking conditions including noise, dust, and heat
  • Flexibility to work overtime or varied shifts based on production demand
