Machine Operator – Folding & Packaging (Printing Environment)

Overview
Our client, a leading printing and packaging manufacturer in North York, is seeking experienced and detail-oriented Machine Operators to join their production team. This full-time role focuses on operating miniature folding and packaging equipment, producing high-quality printed materials while maintaining strict quality, safety, and GMP standards.
Candidates with experience on miniature folding machines and hands-on involvement in packaging and inspection processes are strongly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
  • Set up, operate, and perform preventive maintenance on miniature folding and packaging equipment
  • Operate folding machines including (but not limited to): Vijuk, Herzog & Heymann, MBO, Stahl, and GUK
  • Fold products according to specifications, samples, and customer requirements
  • Set up folding readers, water scores, and glue guns
  • Produce prototype samples as required by customers and internal departments
  • Inspect finished products for quality, defects, and correct quantities
  • Pack finished printed materials accurately according to specifications
  • Label cartons and prepare completed orders for shipment
  • Perform tray weight checks to ensure correct number of inserts per packaging requirements
  • Ensure proper line clearance to prevent cross-contamination
  • Follow GMP standards, safety procedures, and all company protocols
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Complete all required production documentation, forms, and checklists on time
  • Monitor machine performance and ensure optimal efficiency
  • Suggest process improvements to department leadership
Qualifications & Experience
  • Proven experience as a Machine Operator in a printing, packaging, or manufacturing environment
  • Hands-on experience with miniature folding equipment (Vijuk, Herzog & Heymann, MBO, Stahl, and/or GUK) preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with set-up and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience working in GMP-regulated or quality-driven environments an asset
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
  • Capable of lifting up to 30–40 lbs as required
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work well independently and within a team
