Director of Project Delivery – Construction (ICI & Commercial Projects) – Burlington, Ontario

Overview
A growing construction firm specializing in the design and build of environmentally controlled industrial and commercial facilities is seeking an experienced Director of Project Delivery to lead its project management and field operations teams. This is a senior leadership position accountable for the successful delivery of all construction projects and ensuring excellence in planning, execution, client satisfaction, and profitability.
The Director will report directly to the President and be a key member of the Operations Management Team, with oversight of multiple concurrent projects across Canada and the U.S.
Key Objectives
  • Deliver projects on time, on budget, and to client expectations
  • Promote and enforce a culture of safety across all job sites
  • Maximize project profitability through efficient resource and procurement management
  • Lead, develop, and hold accountable a high-performing project delivery team
  • Contribute to business growth through client relationships and repeat work
Core Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
  • Inspire and lead project managers, coordinators, and site teams
  • Identify skills gaps and lead recruitment of top talent
  • Provide mentorship, training, and career development pathways
  • Conduct regular performance reviews with direct and honest feedback
Project Oversight & Execution
  • Lead project execution from pre-construction through turnover
  • Ensure accurate, timely financial tracking and reporting
  • Conduct monthly P&L reviews with finance and project teams
  • Track key performance indicators across the portfolio of projects
  • Approve project milestones and validate % completion billing
Strategic & Client-Facing Duties
  • Act as executive liaison on major projects to ensure client satisfaction
  • Support business planning and operational strategy
  • Collaborate with pre-construction and sales teams during project onboarding
  • Assist with vendor, consultant, and regulator coordination to avoid escalation
Process & Financial Management
  • Lead or support implementation of cost management systems and protocols
  • Train teams in construction cost control, including ECAC and job costing
  • Ensure strong reporting habits and data-driven project forecasting
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in construction project delivery (ICI, commercial, cold storage, food/pharma facilities)
  • Proven leadership of multiple large-scale construction projects (e.g., $2M–$80M+)
  • Strong understanding of both greenfield and brownfield development
  • Financial acumen including P&L responsibility and cost tracking
  • PMP certification preferred
  • Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
  • Deep familiarity with relevant Canadian codes and standards (e.g., OBC, CFIA, CSA)
  • Proficiency with construction management platforms (e.g., Procore, MS Project, CMiC)
  • Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills
  • Strong industry network of subcontractors, vendors, and project delivery professionals in the GTA is a plus
