Building Automation (BAS) Project Designer – Vancouver BC
Job Summary
The Building Automation (BAS) Project Designer / Design Engineer leads BAS design for major new construction and retrofit projects, supporting BAS engineering, project, service, and sales teams in BC.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Lead the design of BAS / HVAC Controls systems, including control panel layouts, wiring diagrams,
and sequence of operations for both new ICI construction and retrofit projects - Develop and deliver appropriate BAS design standards that meet project requirements
- Prepare comprehensive design documentation, including system
architecture diagrams and equipment schedules - Prepare comprehensive design documentation, including system
architecture diagrams and equipment schedules - Review and approve design documents to ensure compliance with industry standards and client specifications
- Collaborate with project managers, sales teams, and field technicians to align
design solutions with project requirements - Work with Service Team members to develop and present innovative technical
solutions. - Assist Sr. Leadership with labour planning, cost estimation and forecasting.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience: Minium 5+ years in a BAS design role working on new construction and or retrofit projects
- Degree or Technical diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent course or relevant certifications in Building Automation Systems
- Experience working with a full range of commercial and industrial BAS projects (preferred).
- Technical Proficiency: Expertise in HVAC systems, control strategies, and communication protocols.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in Visio, AutoCAD, and other relevant design tools.
- Project Management / Coordination & Communication: Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously
- Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve design-related challenges efficiently.
- Ability to interface effectively with clients and contractors
