Fuze HR Community Engagement
On September 29, 2023, Fuze HR Solutions had the privilege of engaging with Steve Bonspiel, editor at The Eastern Door Newspaper, to discuss the significance of Truth and Reconciliation Day. His insights and dedication to the Native community provided us with a deeper understanding of this important day.

Understanding Truth and Reconciliation Day

This federal statutory holiday on September 30 commemorates the children who never returned home from residential schools and recognizes the ongoing effects on survivors and their communities. It is a day dedicated to public reflection and contributing to the reconciliation process.

The Meaning Behind Orange Shirt Day

Orange Shirt Day, observed on the same date, is an Indigenous-led initiative that raises awareness of the harm caused by residential schools. The orange shirt symbolizes the loss of culture and self-esteem experienced by Indigenous children, reminding us that “Every Child Matters.”

Our Commitment to Reconciliation

By wearing orange shirts, we demonstrated our commitment to reconciliation and education. Steve’s visit reinforced the importance of understanding and empathy in building a more inclusive future.

Moving Forward Together

We encourage everyone to wear orange on September 30 and engage in learning about the impacts of residential schools. Each step we take towards education and awareness contributes to healing and justice for Indigenous communities. Thank you to Steve Bonspiel for his invaluable contribution to our understanding of Truth and Reconciliation Day. Let’s continue to work together towards a respectful and united future.
