Overtime: Saturday overtime expected but not mandatory

Position Overview
The Senior Oven Operator plays a key role in overseeing oven operations and supporting production flow within a high-volume bakery manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for ensuring that baking processes are executed efficiently and consistently while maintaining strict quality and food safety standards.
The successful candidate will monitor oven performance, manage baking parameters, support production teams, and ensure that products meet precise baking specifications. The Senior Oven Operator will also assist in training team members, maintaining accurate documentation, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the production floor.

Key ResponsibilitiesOven Operations & Production Support

Operate and monitor industrial baking ovens to ensure proper baking times, temperatures, and product quality.

Coordinate with the Shift Lead and production teams to ensure smooth production flow and timely start-up of baking lines.

Load and monitor baking recipes and parameters according to product specifications.

Ensure baked products meet quality standards for texture, colour, and consistency.

Support production line changeovers and adjustments when switching between products.
Equipment Monitoring & Troubleshooting

Monitor oven performance and identify potential mechanical or operational issues.

Perform basic troubleshooting and assist maintenance teams with minor equipment concerns.

Ensure ovens and surrounding equipment operate efficiently to minimize downtime.
Food Safety & Compliance

Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations and internal quality standards.

Monitor and maintain critical control points related to the baking process.

Maintain accurate production and quality documentation.

Ensure sanitation and hygiene standards are consistently followed.
Training & Team Support

Train and support production staff and temporary workers on oven operations and safe baking procedures.

Promote teamwork and assist in coordinating workflow between departments.
Problem Resolution

Address operational issues promptly and escalate concerns to supervisors when necessary.
Other Duties

Perform additional tasks as assigned to support production operations.
Must-Have QualificationsEducation & Experience
-
High school diploma or equivalent.
-
2–3 years of experience in food manufacturing, preferably in bakery or oven operations.

Experience working with BRC or other GFSI-recognized food safety standards.

Strong understanding of HACCP, GMP, and OHSA requirements within a food production environment.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

Frequent standing, walking, and operating production equipment.

Regular lifting and moving of objects between 25–50 lbs.

Requires visual attention to monitor baking quality and equipment performance.
Work Environment

Exposure to warm production areas near ovens, as well as cooler areas in other parts of the facility.

Noise levels may exceed 85 decibels; proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn.

Strict adherence to safety, hygiene, and food safety protocols is required at all times.
