Quality Engineer – Brampton
Summary of Responsibilities
The Quality Engineer is a key contributor within the plant’s Quality team, responsible for supporting the Quality & Engineering Manager in executing quality-related tasks, activities, and improvement initiatives. This role provides essential support in maintaining and enhancing the Quality Management System (QMS), including document control, change management, calibration, corrective actions, and supplier quality management. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively.
Quality Engineering
- Develop, update, and maintain Testing Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions, and Inspection Data Sheets to ensure consistent and effective quality control.
- Manage Document Control processes to ensure all quality and process control documents are accurate, properly maintained, and compliant with ISO 9001 requirements.
- Lead and coordinate Change Management activities, ensuring all quality- and process-related changes follow established approval workflows and are effectively implemented.
- Administer the measuring system calibration program, including internal verification and external calibration, to ensure measurement reliability and compliance.
- Support the Quality team in issuing Quality Alerts for non-conforming materials or products and provide corresponding training to production teams.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing product quality, process efficiency, and operational performance.
Health & Safety
- Promote and contribute to continuous improvement in workplace safety.
- Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, quality, and operational efficiency standards.
- Maintain compliance with corporate, regulatory, and local safety and environmental requirements.
- Document and train personnel on process improvements, procedural changes, and best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; a Master’s degree (two-year program) is an asset.
- Minimum of 5 years of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment; automotive industry experience preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of World Class Manufacturing (WCM), Lean methodologies, and ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems; ISO 9001 Internal Auditor certification preferred.
- Proficiency in Inspection Methods, GD&T, blueprint reading, 5 Whys, 8D problem-solving, SPC, PPAP, FMEA, and Control Plans.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal), analytical ability, and attention to detail.
- Effective team player with strong collaboration skills.
- Fluency in English.
