Environmental Project Manager – Contaminated Sites

Location: British Columbia

(flexible remote working options- role can be based anywhere within British Columbia)

The successful candidate will be a part of the Assessment and Reclamation team who work throughout western Canada. Our project managers are the cornerstone of our company and are committed to outstanding client service. In this role you will be responsible for managing the on-time and on-budget delivery of projects and providing mentorship to more junior staff. Our client base ranges from regional clients to multi-national oil and gas companies, to government, First Nations, power management, and transportation firms.

Key Responsibilities:

· Planning, organizing, and managing a diverse array of contaminated sites and reclamation projects, people, and tasks

· Providing technical and regulatory expertise regarding contaminated sites work.

· Liaising and negotiating with partners, clients, regulators, contractors, and sub-contractors.

·Leading technical teams to ensure the quality, cost, and timeliness of deliverables

· Leading phased environmental site assessment, remediation, and reclamation programs, including Phase 1 ESA/Stage 1 Preliminary Site Investigation (PSI), Phase 2 ESA/Stage 2 PSI and Detailed Site Investigations (DSI)

· Providing technical and regulatory expertise regarding contaminated sites work

· Contributing high-quality reports, cost estimates, and proposals

· Writing and reviewing high-quality technical reports, cost estimates, and proposals.

· Creating project status reports and maintaining project documentation.

· Leading technical teams to ensure the quality, cost, and timeliness of deliverables.

· Liaising and negotiating with other partners, clients, regulators, contractors, and sub-contractors

· Providing mentorship and training for our environmental professional team

· Ensuring clients’ and the company’s safety standards are maintained or exceeded

· Working collaboratively within company’s corporate culture

Skills / Experience:

·Degree in Environmental Science (B.Sc.) or related field

·(M.Sc.) in a related discipline is an asset.

·Registered P.Ag with the Alberta Association of Agrologists or Saskatchewan institute of Agrologists, or another relevant professional organization, SPIGEC qualification an asset

·A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the environmental consulting sector

·Minimum 3 or more years of project management experience

· Proven experience with project management, leading projects, as well as leading project teams (i.e., budgeting, project tracking, cost-accounting, and scope control) and with the leadership and supervision of contaminated sites project teams.

·Extensive experience with contaminated sites projects across multiple sectors

·Experience with Phase 1 and 2 Environmental Site Assessments and Remediation and Reclamation projects

·Experience with Alberta and Saskatchewan Provincial regulatory guidelines

·Experience with regulatory guidelines in other jurisdictions (e.g., Federal, Manitoba, NWT) is an asset

·Detailed knowledge of and experience with relevant Federal and Provincial legislation environmental standards, regulations and guidelines

·Excellent verbal communications skills

·Detail-oriented with solid organizational and time management skills

·Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative working style

· Effective writing skills, and ability to produce meaningful reports and proposals.

· Superbly organized and self-managed, with a collaborative working style.

· Strong problem-solver able to address challenges with effective solutions that improve systems and/or relationships, and with the ability to think outside the box.

·Valid driver’s license from a Canadian province or Territory acceptable for driving alone and with passengers in a work setting.
