Vice President – Engineering
Overview
As the Vice President – Engineering, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for all engineering, product development, and research activities. You will be responsible for developing and executing the company’s technical vision and ensuring alignment with overall business objectives. This position plays a critical role in driving innovation, operational excellence, and sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership
    • Develop and implement the company’s technical vision and engineering strategy in alignment with overall business goals.
    • Establish and execute short- and long-term engineering plans that support growth, profitability, and continuous improvement.
  • Engineering Management
    • Lead and oversee all engineering functions, including Research, Product Development, and Engineering Operations.
    • Foster a culture of innovation and accountability through clear performance metrics and collaborative problem-solving.
    • Drive initiatives to enhance product quality, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and manufacturing process optimization.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Work closely with Sourcing, Quality Assurance, and Production teams to ensure seamless integration of engineering activities.
    • Represent the Engineering Department in executive meetings and external customer engagements, providing technical insights and strategic recommendations.
  • Product Development and Technical Execution
    • Oversee the development and implementation of annual engineering plans, ensuring adherence to technical standards, processes, and best practices.
    • Manage relationships with key vendors and partners to secure quality materials and components for evaluation and production.
    • Review and provide feedback on technical and financial reports prepared for regulatory agencies and government programs.
  • Financial and Resource Management
    • Develop and manage the engineering department budget, approving expenditures for materials, supplies, facilities, IT, travel, and third-party services.
    • Ensure efficient allocation of resources and adherence to project timelines and budgets.
  • People Leadership and Development
    • Provide technical guidance and direction to engineering staff, delegating responsibilities effectively.
    • Oversee employee performance management, training, and professional development to build a high-performing team.
    • Conduct regular performance evaluations to ensure employees maintain the necessary skills and competencies.
  • Client and Partner Relations
    • Consult and negotiate with clients to define project specifications, prepare proposals, and ensure client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Post-secondary degree in a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of engineering leadership experience in the commercial refrigeration manufacturing industry.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in plastics part design, metrology, and related manufacturing processes.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience with 3D CAD software, product lifecycle management, and electrical/electronic control systems.
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in research, product design, and development of food and beverage merchandising equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory standards and agencies (CSA, NSF, UL) related to engineering design functions.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a large, cross-functional team (20–22 employees) in a dynamic environment.
Language of Work
This is an English-language position. Applicants must be able to read, write, and communicate fluently in English.
