Your Role
As the Structural Engineering Group Lead, you will be responsible for expanding the structural engineering presence in the Vancouver market. This includes leading new business initiatives, overseeing project delivery, mentoring staff, and cultivating client relationships. You’ll collaborate closely with an experienced group of project managers and technical professionals to deliver innovative, efficient, and sustainable design solutions.

Key Responsibilities
Business Development
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in structural engineering consulting for buildings.
  • Drive growth strategies aligned with the organization’s vision and market needs.
  • Represent the firm at industry events, client meetings, and networking engagements.
  • Lead proposal preparation and presentations that effectively communicate service value.
  • Build long-term relationships through a client-focused, consultative approach.
Project Leadership
  • Manage structural engineering projects from concept through to completion.
  • Oversee design, analysis, documentation, and technical reporting.
  • Provide high-level oversight while leveraging a team of project managers for site work and coordination.
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver tailored and innovative solutions.
Team Leadership & Mentorship
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical support to junior and intermediate engineers.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  • Stay current with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and code requirements.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in structural engineering and team leadership.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural Engineering.
  • Registered or eligible for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
  • Struct.Eng. or SE designation considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated success in business development, client relationship management, and project delivery.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative leadership style.
  • Expertise in structural analysis and design software (e.g., S-Frame, ETABS, spSlab).
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle required.
