What are the Responsibilities?
- Lead, mentor, and coach a high‑performing service team to exceed expectations.
- Set clear job expectations and ensure strong communication across the department through regular team huddles and updates.
- Identify and act on trends impacting morale, productivity, absenteeism, or team effectiveness.
- Drive performance through recognition, structured feedback, performance reviews, and talent development.
- Partner with local leadership and HR on recruiting, selecting, and onboarding top talent.
- Collaborate with the Regional Manager on continuous improvement initiatives, training programs, operational strategy, and team engagement.
- Maintain all technician files related to apprenticeship requirements and payroll documentation.
- Oversee payroll and ensure accuracy of all related records.
- Champion a culture centered around exceptional customer service.
- Contribute to annual strategic planning and budgeting for the Service and Mobile departments.
- Partner with the Regional Manager to develop location‑specific sales and service goals and monitor progress.
- Actively manage departmental budgets to meet or exceed targets for:
- Productivity
- Efficiency
- Revenue
- Gross profit
- Expense control
- Review daily budget, KPIs, and performance reports; analyze variances and implement corrective strategies where needed.
- Study trends and identify opportunities to increase profitability.
- Oversee warranty chargebacks to ensure maximum recovery and 100% efficiency.
- Stay informed of current and emerging market conditions and develop strategies to meet service objectives.
- Keep up to speed with product advancements, tooling innovations, and service technologies.
- Engage vendors for support and technical guidance when needed.
- Actively participate in business development efforts, including bidding on tenders.
- Maintain a strong focus on building, nurturing, and expanding customer relationships.
- Communicate with customers at all levels regarding authorizations, repair orders, and service updates.
- Conduct regular customer visits to reinforce partnerships and identify new opportunities.
What are the Requirements?
- 8+ years of experience as a Service Technician or similar role within the dealership/trucking industry. We may consider candidates without technician experience IF they present significant experience at Service Manager level within a relevant dealership environment
- 3+ years of leadership experience with diverse teams, looking for a true manager who can effectively lead technicians & service advisors in all day-to-day branch & field service operations
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Solid analytical abilities for problem‑solving, decision‑making, and interpreting operational data.
- Strong understanding of business principles and sound judgement.
- Highly detail‑oriented, organized, and able to juggle multiple priorities while maintaining a customer‑centric mindset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience working in a fast‑paced, high‑volume, customer-focused environment.
Bonus points for:
- Journeyperson certification as a Commercial Transport or Heavy-Duty Technician (HD Mechanic / Diesel Mechanic).
- Training in Business Management or related fields.
