Senior Processing Operator – Food Manufacturing

Location: Milton, ON
Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent
Shift: Monday to Friday, 5:30 AM – 3:00 PM
Overtime: Saturday overtime expected but not mandatory
Hourly Rate: $22.84/hr.
We are currently hiring a Senior Processing Operator for a well-established bakery manufacturing facility in Milton, ON that produces premium desserts and baked goods distributed across North America.
This role is responsible for supervising production teams, overseeing multiple production lines, and ensuring efficient operations while maintaining strict food safety and quality standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will complete accurate documentation, monitor critical control points, ensure products consistently meet quality specifications, and support efficient warehousing and storage practices. This role also applies Lean principles to improve workflows, reduce waste, and enhance productivity while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized food production environment.

Key Responsibilities
Production Setup & Line Operation
  • Coordinate with the Shift Lead to ensure production lines are properly set up to meet start times.
  • Supervise and support a team of 10–15 temporary agency staff during daily production operations
  • Oversee multiple production lines including mixing, baking/oven operations, processing, and packaging
  • Operate and oversee all production lines efficiently.
  • Load recipes for all production lines.
  • Perform independent changeovers across production lines.
  • Train employees and temporary workers on production procedures and equipment operation.
Equipment & Mechanical Maintenance
  • Perform basic troubleshooting to maintain efficient machinery operation.
  • Identify and resolve minor maintenance issues to minimize downtime.
Food Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure all food safety and personal safety hazards are addressed promptly.
  • Maintain high standards of food safety, quality, and sanitation.
  • Follow company policies and regulatory requirements related to food manufacturing.
Problem Resolution & Escalation
  • Quickly resolve operational issues and escalate concerns when necessary.
Other Duties
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Must-Have Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2–3 years of experience in food manufacturing.
  • Hands-on experience with BRC or other GFSI-recognized food safety standards.
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMP, and OHSA requirements and their application in a production environment.
Skills

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
  • Dessert manufacturing or bakery experience.
  • Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification (or higher).
Working Conditions
Physical Demands
  • Work performed in a food manufacturing facility.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and operating production equipment.
  • Regular lifting and moving of items between 25–50 lbs.
  • Requires clear communication and visual focus for safe operation.
Work Environment
  • Exposure to varying temperatures including warm production areas and cold freezer environments.
  • Noise levels may exceed 85 decibels; proper PPE must be worn at all times.
  • Strict adherence to food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety protocols is required.
