Job Title: Quality Manager
Location: Barrie, Ontario
Salary: $75k-$80k
About the Opportunity:
A well-established, fast-growing manufacturer is seeking a Quality Manager to lead and evolve quality processes across their production environment. This role will oversee quality operations, lab testing, and a small team of quality professionals to ensure continuous improvement, compliance, and customer satisfaction. Reporting to the senior leadership team, you'll be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality systems that align with internal goals and industry standards.
Your Impact:
As a pivotal member of the leadership team, you will:
  • Develop and manage the quality control framework, from inspection to audit.
  • Oversee lab activities and coordinate testing, calibration, and reporting.
  • Drive improvements through non-conformance investigations and corrective actions.
  • Guide and mentor a small team of quality professionals.
  • Interface with suppliers, customers, and third-party auditors to uphold quality expectations.
  • Lead internal quality audits and support ISO 9001 compliance initiatives.
Who You’ll Work With:
  • Internal: Senior leaders, production managers, engineers, procurement, and sales teams.
  • External: Key customers, suppliers, and external auditors.
What You Bring:
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline; a degree in Industrial Engineering is a plus.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with lab equipment and quality systems in a manufacturing setting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with proven experience managing technical teams.
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills; comfortable working under pressure.
  • Experience in non-conformance management, ISO quality audits, and document control.
  • Confidence in working with lab testing tools (e.g., Instron), developing test methods, and maintaining calibration schedules.
Preferred Skills:
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving approach.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to foster cross-functional collaboration.
  • Detail-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the quality team and daily operations within the product line.
  • Author and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and quality documentation.
  • Collaborate with production to assess and resolve quality concerns.
  • Lead non-conformance investigations, product disposition, and root-cause analysis.
  • Conduct internal audits and manage corrective actions.
  • Track and report on quality KPIs.
  • Maintain ISO 9001 quality compliance and QMS documentation.
  • Support customer inquiries and develop product quality strategies.
Work Environment & Expectations:
  • Moderate time on the production floor and in lab environments.
  • Occasional travel between nearby facilities.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures depending on seasonal conditions.
  • Interaction with chemicals and industrial materials during lab tests.
Supervisory & Decision-Making Responsibilities:
  • Supervise Quality Technicians and provide functional oversight to Inspectors.
  • Make informed decisions on test procedures, materials disposition, and corrective actions.
  • Responsible for lab resource allocation and safe handling of materials.
