Millwright Team Leader – Afternoon Shift
Location: GTA West with scheduled travel to additional regional sites
Shift: Afternoon
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly Rate: $45–$52/hour (flexibility up to $53/hour for the right candidate)

Role Overview
A well-established industrial operation is creating a new Millwright Team Leader position to support its growing afternoon maintenance shift. This is a hands-on leadership role, responsible for guiding a team of skilled trades while actively participating in maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities.
The successful candidate will act as the senior decision-maker on shift in the absence of the Maintenance Manager and will play a key role in building and stabilizing the afternoon maintenance team over time.
Reporting Structure
- Reports to the Maintenance Manager
- Leads 3–4 skilled technicians on the afternoon shift
Work Environment
- Heavy industrial setting involving large-scale mechanical and hydraulic equipment
- Equipment includes balers, shredders, and heavy-duty hydraulic systems
- Pre-planned travel between multiple facilities
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support a team of millwrights through hands-on participation and technical guidance
- Make operational and safety-related decisions during the afternoon shift
- Perform troubleshooting, repair, adjustment, and preventive maintenance on plant and yard equipment
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Fabricate components and complete welding repairs as required
- Install, commission, and test new equipment and machinery
- Assign and prioritize work orders for internal staff and external contractors
- Coordinate parts, tools, and services to support maintenance activities
- Monitor quality, productivity, and safety compliance of completed work
- Respond to urgent breakdowns and service calls to minimize downtime
- Promote a positive, accountable, and safety-focused work environment
Required Qualifications
- Valid 433A Industrial Millwright Licence (mandatory)
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory or team leadership experience in an industrial maintenance environment
- Strong hands-on background in mechanical maintenance and repair
- Experience working with heavy-duty industrial equipment and hydraulic systems
- Ability to work autonomously and make sound decisions during off-shift hours
- Welding and fabrication skills considered a strong asset
- PLC exposure or troubleshooting experience considered an asset
- Valid G Driver’s Licence with a clean driving record
- Ownership of a personal tool set
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
