Mechanical Assembler
Job Description:
The Mechanical Assembler will be responsible for the assembly and construction of truck bodies and associated equipment. Key duties include:
- Mechanical assembly of various truck body components
- Measuring, aligning, drilling, bolting, screwing, and riveting parts
- Safely using hand and power tools
- Assembling mechanical and hydraulic equipment
- Assembling hydraulic hoses
- Performing quality assurance checks to ensure completed work meets standards
- Reading and interpreting blueprints for assembly and component installation
- Providing service and support for repairs as requested by the shop foreman
- Completing additional tasks as assigned by the shop foreman
Working Conditions:
The work environment can be noisy and dirty, with some areas undergoing repainting (e.g., bathrooms and lunchroom). Candidates should be comfortable working in these conditions.
Work Schedule:
- Monday to Thursday: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Friday: 7:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Language Requirements:
Fluency in English required. Additional language skills may be an asset.
Certification and Skills Required:
- No formal certifications required (e.g., Forklift or Dangerous Goods certifications are not mandatory).
- Essential Skills:
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to read mechanical schematics
- Proficiency with a tape measure (including fractions)
- Previous experience with hydraulics and pneumatics is an asset
Physical Requirements:
Medium physical work: Candidates should be capable of performing moderate physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
Safety Equipment:
- Must wear steel-toed boots.
- Safety goggles will be provided by the employer.
