Key Responsibilities
- Loading and Unloading: Manually transfer boxes, crates, and pallets from trucks to the warehouse dock and vice versa. This includes unloading incoming shipments and loading outbound trucks with orders.
- Sorting and Organizing: After unloading, sort goods according to specific instructions, categorizing products by type or destination to ensure systematic inventory management.
- Inventory Verification: Check items against shipping documents to confirm quantities and conditions, flagging any discrepancies or damages.
- Equipment Operation: Use hand trucks, dollies, and sometimes motorized equipment like electric pallet jacks and forklifts to transport goods within the warehouse.
- Maintaining Safety Standards: Follow safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment while handling heavy items.
Required Skill
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy items and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
- Attention to Detail: Keen eye for detail to ensure accurate sorting and inventory management.
- Experience: Previous experience in a warehouse or similar environment is often preferred especially with loading and unloading tasks.
- Ability to Read & follow Stacking Diagrams and Instruction a must
Work Environment
Lumpers typically work in fast paced environments such as warehouses, docks, and distribution environments, where they handle high volumes of goods. The job can be physically demanding and may require working in various weather conditions if outdoors
