Job Title: Heavy Equipment Technician
Location: Stoney Creek, ON
The Heavy Equipment Technician is responsible for delivering high-quality workmanship, reliable service, and technical expertise to customers. This role includes all aspects of testing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and reconditioning heavy equipment, transmissions, engines (gasoline and diesel), and related engine components—often performed on-site or through roadside assistance.
Key Accountabilities: Heavy Equipment Technician
- Inspect and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems and components.
- Communicate with equipment owners to obtain authorization for servicing and repairs.
- Service and repair heavy equipment both in the shop and on-site at customer locations.
- Recondition and remanufacture components as needed for engine, equipment, and hydraulic systems.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with clients.
- Coordinate servicing requirements with supervisors or managers.
- Accurately document work completed, update service records, and complete warranty and work order forms.
- Participate in internal and manufacturer training programs (may occur during or after work hours).
- Follow all Health & Safety programs and attend all required training.
- Ensure daily tasks are performed safely and with a clean, organized work environment.
- Conduct housekeeping duties and maintain a professional image.
- Collaborate with manufacturer online support systems.
- Perform electrical testing and verify functionality of energized components, including switchgear, transfer switches, breakers, and generators.
- Comply with Field Level Hazard and Job Hazard assessments.
Management Scope and Budget Responsibilities: Heavy Equipment Technician
- Budget: No direct budget responsibility (may order parts/supplies within limits).
- Leadership/Supervision: This is an individual contributor role; no supervisory duties.
Required Qualifications: Heavy Equipment Technician
- Education: Trade certification (Journeyman Red Seal) and/or currently registered in a Provincial Apprenticeship program.
- Experience: 2–3 years of experience in a related technician or mechanic role.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven customer service abilities
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to analyze technical issues and develop solution
