About the Opportunity Heavy Duty Mechanic
We are working with a well-established construction organization specializing in civil infrastructure, site development, and landscape construction.
They are seeking an experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic to support fleet reliability, equipment performance, and preventative maintenance programs across a diverse range of construction machinery.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled mechanic who enjoys working with heavy equipment used in earthworks and civil construction operations.
Key Responsibilities Heavy Duty Mechanic
Perform diagnostic, repair, and maintenance work on heavy construction equipment
Troubleshoot diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components
Conduct preventive maintenance inspections on fleet machinery
Repair and service excavators, loaders, dozers, and related earthmoving equipment
Respond to equipment breakdowns in shop and field environments when required
Maintain accurate service and repair documentation
Support safe equipment operation by ensuring machinery meets company and regulatory standards
Work collaboratively with operations and field teams
Qualifications & Experience Heavy Duty Mechanic
5+ years of experience as a Heavy Duty Mechanic or Heavy Equipment Technician
Experience servicing construction, earthworks, or civil fleet equipment
Strong knowledge of:
-Diesel engine systems
-Hydraulic diagnostics and repair
-Electrical troubleshooting
-Mechanical drivetrain components
Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and equipment service documents
Valid driver’s license (DZ license is considered an asset)
Assets That Will Make You Stand Out
Experience maintaining civil construction equipment fleets
Familiarity with modern construction machinery technology
Exposure to machine control or GPS-enabled equipment is an asset
Red Seal or Heavy Equipment Technician certification preferred
