A global site investigation and geotechnical services company is seeking a Group Human Resources Manager to provide strategic leadership across its international operations. With a strong presence across North America, the UK, South Africa, and Australia, the company is known for its technical excellence and positive workplace culture.
This role is responsible for aligning HR strategies with organizational goals across multiple regions and subsidiaries. The successful candidate will lead a distributed HR team, ensuring consistent practices while accommodating regional differences.
In addition to global responsibilities, this position directly oversees Canadian HR operations, ensuring compliance with local legislation and alignment with broader organizational strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Align HR strategy with global business objectives.
- Forecast talent needs in line with growth and operational shifts.
- Define and maintain clear role accountability across HR using a RACI framework.
- Partner with business leaders to implement HR programs tailored to local and global needs.
Talent Management
- Oversee global talent acquisition and employer branding strategies.
- Develop succession planning and internal mobility frameworks.
- Enhance leadership development through career pathing and promotion initiatives.
Compensation & Benefits
- Design competitive, compliant compensation structures.
- Lead reward and recognition programs to improve retention.
- Harmonize benefit plans across regions.
Employee Development
- Lead performance management programs and review cycles.
- Expand structured learning frameworks, including leadership development.
- Implement KPIs, feedback mechanisms, and action plans for employee growth.
HR Analytics
- Use data to track engagement, turnover, and workforce trends.
- Provide regular reporting to stakeholders.
- Leverage analytics for predictive workforce planning.
Culture & Engagement
- Lead engagement initiatives, including surveys and wellness campaigns.
- Foster a culture aligned with company values and performance expectations.
- Support DEI efforts and internal career mobility.
HR Technology & Systems
- Own the global HRIS roadmap and digital transformation of HR processes.
- Enhance employee experience through automation and improved digital workflows.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Advise executive leadership on all people-related matters.
- Work cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, HSE, Operations, and other departments.
- Lead and mentor a global HR team.
- Support corporate social responsibility and community involvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- CPHR designation preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 7 years in HR leadership, including team management.
- Global HR experience strongly preferred (e.g., Canada, USA, Australia, LATAM, South Africa).
- Background in construction, engineering, mining, or industrial sectors is an asset.
Skills
- Expertise in employment laws across multiple Canadian provinces; familiarity with U.S. labor laws is a plus.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft O365 (Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint).
- Experience with HRIS platforms (e.g., BambooHR).
- Strong data analytics and reporting skills.
- Experience leveraging AI tools to improve HR operations.
- Bilingualism in Spanish or French is an asset.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Willingness to travel (~10%).
Working Conditions
- Based in Burnaby, BC.
- Minimum 60% in-office presence required.
