Civil Construction Foreman – Water & Sewer – Ottawa
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Civil Construction Foreman specializing in water and sewer infrastructure. This role is ideal for a results-driven leader with hands-on field experience and a strong ability to coordinate teams, maintain schedules, and uphold safety and quality standards on complex civil projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise crews and subcontractors on water and sewer construction projects, ensuring safe and efficient site operations.
- Conduct daily briefings to outline work plans, associated hazards, and production goals.
- Assign tasks, monitor progress, and hold team members accountable for quality and timelines.
- Collaborate with the site superintendent and project coordinator to coordinate material and equipment deliveries.
- Interpret construction drawings and specifications, ensuring work aligns with project requirements.
- Monitor ongoing work for quality, compliance, and safety; promptly resolve any operational issues.
- Support short-term schedule development and track progress to meet key milestones.
- Maintain accurate daily reports, including quantities, cost codes, and site documentation.
- Represent the team in meetings with clients, inspectors, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure site safety through hazard identification, adherence to protocols, and crew education.
- Assist in resolving deficiencies and follow up with documentation to project stakeholders.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Water and Sewer Foreman in heavy civil construction.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to direct work crews independently.
- Skilled in reading technical drawings and specifications.
- Proven ability to manage on-site logistics, coordinate subcontractors and suppliers, and meet production targets.
- Willingness to travel and work out of town as required.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Solid understanding of safety procedures and job-specific hazards.
