We are currently looking for a Class 1 Truck Driver for our client's site in Prince George, BC.
The Truck Driver is responsible for the operation of various trucks and trailers in a safe and appropriate manner, to haul recyclable metal to and from different locations and our Prince George yard. Occasionally, the Driver may need to haul material to and from other locations and partner companies.
We are looking for experience with Super B's, Flat Decks, Rolls offs, etc. A candidate with loading/offloading experience, basic mechanical knowledge, and experience with electronic logging of hours/km driven is an asset.
Truck drivers can expect to go to federally regulated sites which means they will have to pass a drug test to be allowed on this site. Employees are also asked to provide a clean drivers abstract and will be asked to drive during winter conditions (with all safety precautions).
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Performs pre/post-trip inspections on the vehicle assigned to drive.
· Carries out general safety practices of a commercial driver.
· Follows guidelines for safe load securement.
· Communicates with customers in a professional manner.
· Carries out instructions from Dispatch in a timely manner.
· Immediately reports any unsafe situations or service-related issues to Manager or Dispatch.
· Positions and/or returns container on the customer’s property in a manner that ensures lids and doors are properly replaced, and do not block driveway entrances or traffic.
· Additional duties as assigned by management.
Job Requirements:
· Must have a valid Class 1 or 3 driver’s license.
· Clean drivers abstract.
· Preferably 3-4 years’ experience operating a heavy commercial truck.
· Experience with roll-offs, body jobs and dump trucks preferred.
· Experience hauling B-trains, but not a requirement.
· Experience with self-loading material handles or Hiab is a definite asset.
· Flexibility with work shifts and ability to travel occasionally.
· Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
Work Environment:
· Drive an enclosed truck on a daily basis.
· Work outdoors while loading and unloading goods. Work indoors while driving or filling out paperwork. Indoor temperatures may not be controlled.
· Are often exposed to contaminants, such as diesel fuel or exhaust.
· Wear protective or safety attire on a weekly basis.
· Sometimes are exposed to very hot or very cold temperatures while working outside.
· May have to get into cramped positions to reach workspaces, such as the back of a truck.
Details:
· $33-35/hr pay range
· Monday to Friday from 8am to 4:30pm
