We are looking for an Avionics Engineer to provide technical avionics technical expertise in support of all electronic and electrical designs and systems. within aerospace and defense.

Salary range: $64,000 – $79,000 + 100% employer-paid benefits and RRSP matching program after 3 months

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00am start

Responsibilities:

  • Locate technical information regarding flight operations, aircraft electronic and electrical systems, and applicable Transport Canada and/or FAA avionics regulations
  • Develop technical orders (TOs) to direct technical repair activities on a customer’s aircraft, interpreting mechanical, electrical and electronic drawings, producing electrical CAD drawings and following all engineering policies and procedures
  • Make appropriate modifications to technical applications, designs, specifications and requirements
  • Provide original and modified avionics and electrical designs for existing aircraft systems and/or designs for new installations
  • Write and interpret aircraft electrical specifications
  • Ensure that all modifications are approved by Transport Canada and the FAA
  • Monitor and direct the use of avionics calibration test equipment, and train technicians in its proper use
  • Interpret the test equipment needed to perform a given task
  • Determine where to purchase or rent appropriate test equipment
  • Be familiar with safety and security policies and procedures and ensure that all workplace behavior complies with these policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Degree/Diploma in Electrical/Avionics Engineering or Technology
  • 3-5 years’ experience in aircraft Electrical/Avionics engineering
  • Excellent communication skills: verbal and written
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of Engineering principles
  • Knowledge of project management fundamentals
  • Knowledge of Global Positioning Systems (GPS)
  • Knowledge of Traffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS II)
  • Knowledge of digital instruments, digital communications and high-level navigation systems
  • Must be Canadian residents or permanent residents
