Position: Project Manager

Service Sector: Environmental Engineering
Location: Head Office in Mississauga

Our client is looking to hire a qualified candidate for the position of Project Manager in Environmental Engineering. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing projects, coordinating staff resources and activities, maintaining effective communication and interaction with clients, contractors and our client employees involved in the projects.
Qualifications:
  • A P.Eng. or P.Geo. designation, in good standing
  • Five to ten years of professional consulting experience
  • Excellent language skills (spoken and written)
  • Experience and knowledge of hydrogeology, environmental chemistry, and environmental fate and transportation
  • Experience and knowledge of major building systems and building construction
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Familiarity with project management tools and/or software packages
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends, to travel and to do out-of-town work when required
  • Knowledge of storage tank compliance requirements is an asset
  • Strategic, operational and technical management skills
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset
Responsibilities
  • Manage environmental engineering and other related projects by assuming full ownership of projects from cradle to grave including preparing requests for proposals, scopes of work and specifications, budgets, staff and resource allocations, formal proposals and work orders, reports, and invoicing, all of which are to be complete, accurate and professional in presentation and appearance
  • Provide review of reports related to environmental engineering and other related projects, prior to issue. Assure completeness of projects and accuracy of reports
  • Develop work plans, conduct Phase One Environmental Site Assessments, including site inspections, records reviews, data evaluation and provide on-going progress reporting through client interactions
  • Conduct Phase Two Environmental Site Assessments, including driller supervision, soil sampling, ground water sampling, elevation surveying, and data analysis
  • Complete Phase One ESA and Phase Two ESA reports to an RSC level of completion, with comprehensive Conceptual Site Models
  • Carry out field supervisory services during soil and ground water remediation activities, including contractor management and data analysis
  • Conduct research as necessary in preparing Requests for Proposals
  • Identify, develop and manage new clientele. Develop and maintain effective client relationships, enhancing client confidence in our client and the services provided
  • Advance business development through technical specialization and professional reputation all while supporting the Senior Managing Consultants in achieving management initiatives
  • Provide senior level support for environmental engineering and other related projects
  • Act as a mentor and/or resource in providing training to both junior our client’s employees and clientele in matters relating to environmental engineering
  • Project initiation and proposal preparation
  • Provide ongoing client and portfolio management, with detailed ongoing project and budget tracking responsibilities
  • Provide support to colleagues as required (e.g. provide appropriate input, suggestions and insights)
  • Work in a safe and intelligent manner to maintain site safety procedures for both our client and for contractors
  • Verify project health & safety protocols and documentation, and assist staff in these tasks
  • Manage competing demands while meeting commitments
The candidate must show an ability to work within a client-oriented and fast-paced environment. Required skills include flexibility, adaptability, problem-solving ability, excellent computer skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to multi-task as well as the ability to meet tight timelines. The candidate must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed. The candidate must have a valid driver’s license. The candidate must also be able and willing to travel as part of this position.
