As the Chief Electrical Estimator, you will be at the helm of the estimating department, guiding the team, shaping processes, and ensuring the delivery of accurate, competitive, and industry leading electrical project bids. You’ll work closely with the Division Manager and partner with multiple departments to ensure every estimate reflects technical excellence, efficiency, and strategic value.

What are the Responsibilities?
- Lead & Elevate the Estimating Department
- Manage day to day operations of the Electrical Estimating team
- Direct, mentor, and develop junior and senior estimators
- Foster teamwork, innovation, and consistent high-quality output
- Prepare detailed estimates for materials, labour, and equipment
- Analyze bid documents, drawings, and project specs
- Evaluate tenders, advise on award recommendations, and participate in negotiations
- Maintain consistency with internal estimating policies and procedures
- Establish and maintain tendering processes and cost monitoring systems
- Coordinate pricing packages with suppliers, subcontractors, architects, designers, and owners
- Support tender reviews, site visits, hand off meetings, and project closing sessions
- Liaise with engineers, architects, contractors, clients, and vendors
- Maintain a strong market presence to secure future work opportunities
- Update supplier and subcontractor directories to ensure competitive pricing
- Stay current with emerging technologies, tools, materials, and construction methodologies
- Ensure estimates reflect the most up to date industry practices
- Conduct material and equipment purchasing for awarded projects
What are the requirements?
- Effective communication and client interaction skills
- Analytical thinking and innovative problem-solving
- Accountability—both personal and team-wide
- Strong collaboration in cross-functional environments
- Degree or Diploma in Construction Engineering Technology or Construction Management (asset)
- Qualified electrical trades experience may substitute for formal education
- 10–15+ years of electrical estimating experience
- Experience as a Chief Estimator or Senior Electrical Estimator (commercial sector preferred)
- Project management background is a strong asset
- Experience with design-build projects is an advantage
- Proficiency with estimating software (Accubid, Trimble, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of electrical construction best practices
- Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to travel throughout Greater Vancouver for site visits
- Clean Class 5 BC driver’s license and abstract
