Material Planner (Temporary – 3 Months)
Location: Burlington, ON (On-Site)
Pay Rate: $40.00/hour
Start Date: ASAP
Fuze HR is seeking an experienced Material Planner for a temporary assignment (approximately 3 months) with a well-established, global food manufacturing organization that produces over 100 million pounds of product annually. This role is critical to maintaining production continuity and ensuring customers receive high fill rates and service excellence.
This is not a clerical role — we are looking for a hands-on supply chain professional with strong purchasing and material planning experience in a manufacturing environment.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Supply Planning Manager, the Material Planner is responsible for ensuring raw materials, packaging, and buy/sell items are ordered, received, and available to meet production schedules. The successful candidate will proactively manage inventory levels, prevent line stoppages, and minimize obsolescence and expedited freight costs.
This role plays a direct impact on operational continuity and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities

Create and manage purchase orders for raw materials, packaging, and buy/sell items using approved vendor programs

Maintain targeted inventory levels aligned with best-in-class material planning practices

Monitor ~200 active ingredients to ensure availability aligned with production schedules

Utilize SAP to manage purchasing and inventory transactions

Use Blue Yonder for forecasting and long-lead ingredients (6–8+ weeks)

Proactively follow up on supplier confirmations, discrepancies, and delivery timelines

Work closely with Scheduling, Warehouse, Inventory Control, Production, Procurement, and Accounts Payable

Perform expediting activities when required to prevent production disruptions

Escalate critical supply risks to the Supply Planning Manager

Continuously identify opportunities to improve supply chain processes
Work Schedule

Monday to Friday
-
Standard hours: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (flexibility between approx. 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM)

30-minute unpaid lunch

On-site role (not remote)
-
After-hours work only in rare emergency situations
Ideal Candidate Profile (Highly Preferred)
We are seeking candidates who demonstrate:
✔ Minimum 3–5 years of purchasing/material planning experience in a manufacturing environment
✔ Experience managing high-volume, critical supply operations
✔ Strong understanding of production-driven inventory management
✔ Ability to make independent decisions regarding order quantities and timing
✔ Experience working in SAP (highly preferred for faster onboarding)
✔ Strong cross-functional communication skills
✔ Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
✔ Ability to work effectively under pressure without compromising accuracy
✔ Experience managing high-volume, critical supply operations
✔ Strong understanding of production-driven inventory management
✔ Ability to make independent decisions regarding order quantities and timing
✔ Experience working in SAP (highly preferred for faster onboarding)

Assets (Nice to Have):

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or related field preferred
