Junior/Intermediate Electrical Technologist / Draftsperson – Mississauga

A well-established, employee-owned multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm is seeking a Junior to intermediate Electrical Technologist/Draftsperson to join its growing team in Ontario. The Role
This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the hydroelectric and power generation sector, working on electrical systems that span from generation equipment to balance-of-plant (BOP) and associated high-voltage transmission systems, including protection and control.
You will support engineers and designers by producing high-quality technical drawings and models, contributing to design development, and collaborating across disciplines to deliver successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and detailed technical drawings and documentation based on design information, specifications, and direction from engineers and project managers
- Translate field data and preliminary design concepts into clear, coordinated technical drafts for review
- Develop 2D electrical drawings using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, including:
- Single-line diagrams
- Wiring and power layouts
- Cable routing and grounding layouts
- PLC cabinet drawings
- Create 3D cable tray models using Revit
- Revise and update drawings based on internal and client feedback
- Assist in the design process by developing sketches, diagrams, and preliminary layouts
- Produce as-built drawings from inspection notes and field markups
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet quality standards, schedules, and budget objectives
About You
- Certified by, or actively working toward certification with, OACETT
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience, preferably within an engineering consulting environment
- Graduate of a three-year engineering technology program or equivalent
- Working knowledge of electrical design principles and systems
- Proficient with AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office
- Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills
- Positive, proactive attitude and eagerness to learn new tools and technologies
- Experience drafting electrical power equipment and systems is considered an asset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Occasional travel to project sites may be required
- Valid driver’s license and ability to undergo security clearance checks
