General Site Supervisor

Overview
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on General Site Supervisor to oversee multiple construction sites, with a strong focus on quality control, health & safety, and trade coordination. This position plays a critical leadership role, working closely with the company owner and site teams to ensure projects are delivered to the highest standards.
The projects range from high-end interior renovations to exterior restorations and additions. Many involve significant heritage sites—including Queen’s Park, University of Toronto, historic churches, private clubs, and landmark institutions like the AGO—requiring precision, care, and a deep respect for craft and conservation.

Key Responsibilities
Site Oversight & Field Leadership
· Conduct weekly visits to every active job site; schedule out-of-town visits as needed.
· Actively participate in construction activities including carpentry, masonry, and demolition.
· Supervise daily site operations, coordinating trades, subcontractors, and suppliers.
· Ensure all work meets quality, heritage, and safety standards.
· Conduct daily conversations with site supervisors to assess:
  • Material and staffing needs
  • Subcontractor performance
  • Schedule improvement opportunities
  • Quality and workmanship

Planning & Communication
· Confirm upcoming schedule needs with project managers.
· Clearly communicate daily expectations to site staff.
· Maintain regular communication with the owner and other project stakeholders.
· Collaborate with consultants and heritage professionals to resolve on-site issues.

Quality Control & Safety
· Conduct regular inspections and reviews to uphold quality benchmarks.
· Ensure adherence to all health and safety regulations.
· Safeguard historical features and materials during restoration work.

Reporting & Administration
· Submit detailed daily reports summarizing site activity, progress, and observations.
· Organize and lead site meetings as needed.

Team Development & Support
· Conduct quarterly one-on-one meetings with each site employee to gather feedback, align on goals, and discuss growth opportunities.
· Lead onboarding of new site staff, including a structured Day 1 orientation (covering safety protocols, job expectations, tools, and contacts).

Qualifications
· Minimum 5–10 years of experience in site supervision, preferably on commercial and/or heritage restoration projects.
· Proven expertise in historic restoration techniques, including masonry, plaster, and wood detailing.
· College diploma or technical training in construction or a related field (asset).
· Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings and heritage documentation.
· Solid understanding of safety standards (WHMIS, Working at Heights, First Aid, etc.).
· Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
· Respectful, detail-oriented, and committed to a clean, safe job site.
· Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
· Own basic tools and be proficient in Microsoft Outlook.
