What are the Responsibilities?

  • Pre-planning of installations and removal of cranes & hoists into projects.
  • Assisting sales staff with communication to clients how best to fill their crane and hoist needs.
  • Creating detailed drawings to help staff and the clients identify and avoid potential future problems, such as possible clash points as the building(s) is constructed, often requiring showing the crane on several floor levels with information from civil, survey, architectural, and structural drawings, as well as field information recorded during site visits.
  • Updating drawings as projects near to accommodate for existing site conditions.
  • Reviewing projects with technical sales representative, accurately providing all technical information and drawings necessary to help client make decisions.
  • Including detailed information in drawing sets to accurately show intentions to the client, their engineering support, and company field staff when they are performing their work (dimensions, weight, or forces of company equipment on structures that may need additional support, travel paths, zoned out hook swing areas of the jobsite, warning sign locations on crane jibs, etc), as per legal requirements – accuracy is critical.
  • Providing crane zoning package drawings that can be used to illustrate the areas where cranes are restricted from slewing or hoisting on sites.
  • Creatin documents to assist operations personnel with communicating “the plan” to staff and subcontractors, allowing them to do their work safely and efficiently.
  • Creating lift plans and method statements including mobile crane information to determine factors such as “critical lifts”.
  • Creating and update trucking plans for mobilizations allowing for different crane configurations, axle weights, road restrictions and site conditions. This includes type of truck or trailer required for each load, times at site, direction of travel.
  • Organizing and maintaining all original manuals and technical bulletins correlating to each piece of equipment both physically and electronically.
  • Updating tower crane and hoist electrical drawings to ensure they are an accurate representation of what is installed on the equipment.
  • Updating tower crane and hoist schedules including the location of equipment and components.
  • Visit jobsites to take field measurements to update drawings and plans with actual measurements.
  • Meeting/exceeding expectations of both internal and external customers.
  • Working with the operations and sales teams to champion change in all aspects of the business.
  • Developing operational efficiencies during pre-planning stages of projects.
  • Prioritizing safety at all times, participating in safety culture, and staying on top of TSSA, Industry, and company-specific EHS standards.

What are the Requirements?

  • Strong 3D AutoCAD drafting knowledge, experience, and abilities
  • Working knowledge of construction (building) drawings and specifications
  • Understanding of electrical and mechanical systems
  • Keen understanding of mobile cranes, tower cranes, and rack and pinion elevators, associated installation and setup requirements
  • Organizational and analytical skills. Understanding of workflows and ability to create efficient processes.
  • Must be an effective problem solver capable of making smart decisions in real time to maintain efficient flow of work and priority management.
  • Experience dealing with equipment manufacturers strongly preferred, ability to read and understand handbooks and bulletins.
  • Construction site experience – MUST be able to take real world measurements and add them into equipment placement drawings.
  • Must be computer savvy, must be able to use MS Office, CRMs, Dispatch system and fleet management software effectively.
  • Must be a team player with the ability to prioritize incoming projects and timelines.
  • Must possess excellent verbal, written, and communication skills
  • In-depth knowledge and application of standards and regulations pertaining to the lift/hoist industry
