Manager, Insurance & Loss Prevention

We are currently hiring for a Manager, Insurance & Loss Prevention. The Manager, Insurance & Loss Prevention will be responsible for the overall direction, supervision and management of the Cargo Claims Department and Safety & Compliance Department. Responsibilities will include managing all aspects relating to insurance incidences from start to conclusion of each occurrence. The individual will ensure departmental compliance with all organizational, legal and regulatory standards, liaising with both the insurance company and legal counsel when necessary. He/she will work to continuously develop the Safety & Compliance Department through performance management to increase organizational efficiency and effectiveness while ensuring the achievement of organizational goals and objectives.

Compensation

  • Annual Salary: $80,000.00
  • Benefits: Following 3 months continuous service.
  • Bonus: Up to 20% of previous year’s earnings.
  • Vacation: TBD
  • Pension: Matched up to 5% of employee contribution.

Job Duties

  • Provide expertise to the entire Cargo Claims and Safety & Compliance Departments.
  • Manage all functional areas of the departments.
  • Ensure compliance with all organizational standards, contractual obligations and relevant regulations.
  • Track external and internal trends with the ability to develop and implement new processes and policies when necessary.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement long and short-range goals and objectives that are consistent with organizational objectives.
  • Prepare for yearly insurance renewal and manage distribution of renewal documents to internal and external customers.
  • Liaise with insurance provider and legal counsel, when necessary.
  • Arrange for disposal of salvage recover, as necessary.
  • Remain abreast of company and industry changes as well as changes in internal processes and procedures.
  • Other duties shall be assigned as required.

Requirements

  • 5 years’ experience in cargo claims and insurance management in a leadership or management role.
  • Provide leadership, support and guidance to the teams.
  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization and with external stakeholders.
  • Considerable knowledge of laws, ordinances, and regulations pertaining to cargo claims, safety & compliance and insurance.
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
  • Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with corporate departments and key business partners.
  • Excellent time and project management skills.

Work Conditions:

  • Some travel may be required.
