The Role

Our client is a reputable manufacturing and maintenance company located in Grand Prairie, Alberta. Due to a project, we are looking for 3 Welders to work for at least 3 to 4 months. This position may go long-term depending on the person’s performance and business needs. There are about 68 people at this work site. Your main duties are to perform structural welding and fitting.

Shift schedule:

-10 straight days with 4 days off. You will be working every other weekend.

-working from 7AM to 5:30PM

-you will be working 10 to 12 hours

-Overtime pay after 8 hours

Compensation/Perks:

• $40 to $45- $45 for red seal welders/fabricators

• Preference will be given to local candidates, however, there is crew housing available

Your tasks as a Welder/Fitter:

• Fabricate and manufacture metals parts for later assembly.

• Ability to read and interpret drawings, sketches, procedures, and practices.

• Knowledge of materials and strong understanding of metals.

• Follow blueprint to ensure exact specifications of output.

• Weld or bolt sections together.

• Set up and operate heavy-duty metal working machines.

• Lay out reference points and patterns, construct patterns and templates.

• Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment.

• Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment.

• Operate shears, and other metal shaping, straightening, and bending machines.

• Ability to stand, crouch, kneel, and occasionally life heavy items.

• Excellent time management and organizational skills.

• Good verbal communication skills.

• Active participation in company safety program.

• Follow safety protocol including wearing of required PPE and understanding and application of safety policies, procedures, and practices.

Qualifications

• MUST BE CWB Certified in FCAW – can be retested onsite as well

• Red Seal Trade Certification is considered an asset but looking for registered apprentices who have gone to school for at least 1 year as well.

• Ability to pass a criminal background check

• Ability to pass drug test

• Experienced with common welding tools and procedures, grinding, and blending. • Extensive experience with reading and understanding Design Plans, including Architectural, Mechanical, and Structural Drawings.

• Extensive knowledge of common welding symbols.

• Experience with and able to demonstrate the ability to work with overhead cranes and unconventional lifts, Including participating in rigging and hoisting operations.
