Our client is a dynamic consumer goods company located in the heart of downtown Montreal. They are seeking a full-time, bilingual VP Finance. The VP Finance will be responsible for enhancing the organization’s performance and value by working closely with the senior management team in the analysis, evaluation and planning related to existing and potential business activities. The VP Finance provides leadership to the finance team, yet remains hands on, ensuring effective and timely financial information and analysis to support the decision-making process throughout the company. The VP Finance is expected to: provide input to the long term strategic plan that establishes goals, identifies key strategic issues that must be addressed, and sets objectives for long, medium and short-term plans for the organization; develop and implement planned financing for the company’s activities; track adherence to the annual operating plan goals, and addresses changes and variances as necessary; direct financial planning, controls, and reporting. This position manages the finance, accounting and IT departments.


·Education: Degree in Business and CPA designation

·Experience: 8 to 10 years in senior finance roles, preferably in a related business

·Must be familiar with North American and Chinese transactions

·Financing, and strategic experience

·Balanced knowledge and capabilities between strategic, operations and financial areas.

·Decisive, collaborative background with a team-oriented approach to growingbusinesses and identifying and developing individuals.

·Well organized, disciplined, leads by example, hands-on.

· Manages the function to ensure the department effectively performs and contributes to the company’s overall success and vision.

· Recruits top quality finance personnel that understand and support the company’s vision and strategy.

· Reviews and monitors the performance of employees and provides guidance to ensure they meet their job responsibilities and objectives

· Prepares annual and quarterly budget and forecast in conjunction with other members of the senior management team, monitors performance against the budget, and makes adjustments in departmental activities as required.

· Develops policies and procedures, as well as best practices for the department.


· Plays a key role in formulating and updating long-term corporate strategic plan.

· Ensures timely and accurate financial reporting is used proactively by the management team

· Develops long, medium, and short-term financial requirements and implements funding strategies to raise necessary capital.

· Supports the entire senior management team by keeping up-to-date on overall business activities.

· Leads the finance team, oversees set-up and operation of financial systems, budget process, and controls to deliver appropriate, timely periodic reporting.

· Analyzes operating results with and recommends action steps and follow-up.

· Updates monthly, quarterly, and annual cash flow forecasts, compares to budget and operating plan and recommends and implements corrective action.

· Establishes and maintains productive relationships with all external financing and banking resources.

· Works with senior management team members in development and negotiation of acquisitions, strategic alliances and joint venture agreements.

· Manages corporate risk through prudent financing strategies, insurance coverage and risk mitigation programs in all aspects of the business.

· Establishes and manages all accounting policies, practices, internal controls, and tax planning to ensure accuracy of information and protection of company assets.

· Works closely with internal legal counsel to ensure all contracts and documents are controlled and executed correctly.

· Handles other projects as required.

This is a permanent position. Salary to reflect experience. Work week is Monday through Friday, from 8:30-17:00 pm. We offer summer and winter hours where we finish earlier on Fridays.
